Irish Walled Towns Day - Sunday 13th

10.30 – 3.30pm - The Big Dig - Dig for ancient Viking treasure at Medieval Carlingford’s Big Dig Event!
To celebrate Irish Walled Towns Day, Carlingford will offer visitors an opportunity to take part in our very own simulated archaeology excavation. It promises to be a fun packed family event where children will get a chance to discover how archaeologists excavate and hopefully find some artefacts and treasures of their own. Dig Times are at 10.30am/11.30am/12.30pm/2.30pm and 3.30pm. Booking is recommended. About The Contest


The Oyster Pearl Contest is a pageant in which a group of lovely ladies shows that they have what it takes to be the next 'Oyster Pearl'.

Each lady will represent a local business.

What Do The Girls Do?

The ladies will spend the week partaking in various activities, with sheep shearing, strutting their stuff, and drinking cocktails just a fraction of what the week entails. It also provides the ladies with an opportunity to experience great things and meet even greater people.

The Pearl Will Receive..


The 2017 Morgans Fine Fish Carlingford Oyster Pearl Will receive €1000, courtesy of Morgans Fine Fish.
1 yrs membership to The Four Seasons Leisure Club, and A Beautiful Handcrafted Pearl Necklace, valued at €400.

To apply for the Oyster Pearl you should download a form, fill it in and drop it into the Carlingford Tourist Office or Carlingford Arms. It promises to be a week full of fun and entertainment, and not one to be missed!

Monday Street Sports takes place on the last day of the Oyster Festival and all the prizes are sponsored by Mourneview B&B and Taaffes Castle Pub.
